After spraying the basecoat, your graphics or flame job is sprayed, thus leaving a hard edge,
especially in candyCandy Apple paint is a tinted clearcoat that is either painted in a urethane or a basecoat type clear. This contains a very strong dye that once that is applied over another color to give it extreme depth. Most candy apple jobs are applied over either a silver or gold basecoat. Spraying over different basecoats will give the same color candy apple different effects. If you spray candy apple over white, you will get a very bight 'solid' colored candy effect. Spraying over a black metallic will make the candy extremely dark, but you will still see the pearl flakes the same color as the candy apple. type paints or jobs with pinstriped outlines..

When clearing over the graphics, the clear follows the contour of the surface, thus leaving an edge, though not as hard of an edge as without the clear.

Once wetsandPre-paint wetsanding is done as the final sand before actually applying sealer/paint and clearcoat. This helps give a 'finer' grit surface to paint over along with giving a cleaner surface since you are using water to wetsand, instead of the typical 'dry' sand. At our shop, we shy away from wetsanding before actually painting due to some areas of the surface being bare metal. If done after the spraying, the surface that would be wetsanded normally would be the final 'clearcoat'. This process will help flatten the paint job by eliminating any imperfections, any graphic edges along with orange peel. On paint jobs with thicker graphics, wetsanding may not eliminate ALL the edge on graphics or flames. Normally wetsanding before buffing is done with 1500 or 2000 grit (or both).ed, the surface is leveled thus leaving you a nice flat finish ensuring that you will not feel an edge on the paint's surface. When wetsanding the surface flat, the higher areas, where the graphics or flame are, gets thin because the surface under the paint is higher up.

When you purchase our "Double Dose", we go ahead and bypass the wetsanding, and machine sand the surface down to a flat finish. Then we spray another 3-4 coats. After this, the surface is wetsanded, buffed and polished, giving you the ultimate in depth and protection for your new paint job.
